2007-08: Competed in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle, 200 backstroke, the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays...Posted FIU’s seventh-best finish in the 500 freestyle (5:25.67) at the Hoosierland Invitational (11/15/07)... Set a personal-best in the 50 freestyle (26.38) at the Sun Belt Conference Championships (2/28/08-3/1/08)
2006-07: Won FIU’s Michael Felsberg Spirit Award in the spring...competed in the 200-, 500-, and 1650-yard freestyle; 100- and 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard IM events...swam the team’s best 1650 free at the SBC Championships...At Sun Belt Championships (2/15-17/07): Swam the third leg of the sixth-place 800 free relay team in a school record 7:53.39...turned in the team’s top 1650 free time of 17:58.85 to finish 14th...During the season: Recorded her best time in the 200 free (2:00.98) against Western Kentucky (10/26/06)...finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle event (5:25.32) against Miami (10/20/06)...anchor leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:46.72) against UM and in the 400-yard medley relay at the FIU Invitational (1/6/07).
2005-06: Won the 200-yard freestyle in a personal-best time (1:57.91) against Indian River (11/5)...recorded the team’s fastest time in the 500-yard freestyle (5:13.74) at the Nike Invitational (11/17) and in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:44.93) against Florida State and LSU (10/28)...first leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay at the Nike Invitational (11/19) that placed among the top 20...finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:36.36) against Florida State and LSU (10/28).
Prior to FIU: Three-time finalist at the South African National Meet...qualified for the 2004 South Africa Olympic Trials...four-time honoree as Garsfontein Swimmer of the Year...ranked nationally in the 400- (20th), 800- (13th) and 1500-yard (12th) freestyle...also competed in field hockey.
Personal: Born April 18, 1986...daughter of Andre and Elizabeth Luus...mother is a swimming instructor...named to the 2005-06 SBC Academic Honor Roll...advertising major with a minor in psychology.
