Newcomer Spotlight – Douglas Connell

MIAMI (Aug. 7, 2016) – With the 2016 FIU Fall Football Camp underway, FIUSports.com will spotlight the team's newcomers with a number of fun and interesting questions.

Each day, we will talk to multiple first-year Panthers. Today's second spotlight will feature center Douglas Connell, a 6-foot-3, 288-pound freshman from Jacksonville, Florida.

15934If you weren't playing football, what would you be doing?
I would still be going to school to get my degree in human resource management.

Who do you model your game after/who is your favorite pro-athlete?
Dallas and I always watched and modeled our game after the Pouncey twins (Maurkice and Mike) growing up – stereotypical answer, I know. My favorite player is former New York Giant, Chris Snee. He could bench 500 pounds like it was nothing and he was just a tank on the offensive line. I admire him a lot.

In a movie about your life, what movie star would play you?
15935Brad Pitt. I absolutely love Brad Pitt.

What's the number one song or most recent song on your playlist?
George Jones – The Corvette Song

What's your favorite football movie?
Remember the Titans

What's your favorite cartoon growing up?
It's got to be Ed Edd n Eddy
15936
Do you have any special hidden talents?
I can wiggle my ears and do some really good bird calls with my hands.

What is your favorite app/what app do you use the most?
It's got to be either Instagram or Twitter.

Pokémon Go? Yes or No?
I don't play it. I like the series, but it's too much walking around for me.

Be sure to check back with FIUSports.com each day for the latest Newcomer Spotlight, as well as, the latest on this year's fall camp.
