MIAMI (April 7, 2016) – The FIU football team completed Day 11 of Spring Camp on Thursday morning from Ocean Bank Field at FIU Stadium.
The Panthers entered Thursday with just four more practices before this year's Spring Game, slated for April 15 at 7 p.m.
FIUSports.com caught up with Special Teams Coordinator
Kirk Doll and long snapper
Sam Medlock after practice.
Special Teams Coordinator Kirk Doll On Spring Practice Well, we're improving each day. There's little things that you keep battling all the time but, we're improving each day. We're trying to get the basic part of our punt and all the special teams in now. So, we're getting there. We've got a ways to go. On the Transition to FIU Well, I'm getting better at learning the players' names which is usually a situation for me, but we're hanging in there. I'm learning more about what their positives are, what they can do and how they can help on special teams. On the Experience of the Special Teams Group Well the experience is very invaluable. So valuable that there's a lot of things as a result of their experience that we talk about. They understand the kicker's situations better. | |
 | Long Snapper Sam Medlock On Spring Practice It's going really well. We're getting better every day, new coach and everything, but he's got a lot of good knowledge. I like the schemes we're going with and as far as specialist-wise, Austin (Taylor) and Stone (Wilson) making strides every day and Scott (Wade) is getting better and better every day. I'm improving every day. But as a team, definitely we're going upward, having a great camp so far. On Working with New Special Teams Coach Kirk Doll At first it was a little different just because it's a little different scheme but he's a great coach, everyone really likes him. We haven't really missed a beat with him but everything he's doing, everyone likes a lot. He's a good guy. |
