FIU Blue & Gold Spring Game Set for Friday, April 3 at 6pm

Spring Game to Lead into FIU Baseball Game at 7:30pm vs. WKU

FIU football will host its annual Blue & Gold Spring Game on Friday, April 3 at 6 p.m. in FIU Stadium. The game will be part of an FIU Athletics double-header with the Golden Panthers baseball team taking on Western Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. at University Park.

Admission to the Spring Game is free and all fans attending the football game will receive vouchers good for free entrance into the baseball game that evening. Fans attending the Spring Game will have the opportunity to purchase season tickets for the 2009 season for as little at $50.

Free food will be served at FIU Stadium for fans in attendance while supplies last. Current season seat holders and those who purchase season tickets at the game will be entered into a drawing to win two free tickets, transportation and hotel accommodations to FIU’s game in Gainesville against the defending BCS National Champion Florida Gators on Nov. 21, 2009.

The Golden Panthers football team returns 16 starters from last year’s roster including Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year WR T.Y. Hilton (Miami Springs H.S.), QB Paul McCall (Hollywood Hills H.S.), First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference CB Anthony Gaitor (Northwestern H.S.) and LB Scott Bryant (Lakeland H.S.).

FIU football tied a school record in 2008 recording five victories, including their first win over a Mid-American Conference opponent in Toledo. The Golden Panthers will open their 2009 campaign at Alabama on Sept. 12. The 2009 schedule also includes games at Rutgers, at Florida and home match-ups against Toledo and South Florida rival FAU.
