BOCA RATON, Fla. – Four Panthers scored in double-digits to lift the FIU women’s basketball team to a 77-75 victory over FAU on Saturday night. Point guard Michelle Gonzalez took control of the overtime period, scoring all 10 of FIU’s points to seal the game en route to a 15-point outing.

Senior guard Monika Bosilj smashed the school record for career three-pointers, breaking the mark of 172 and kept on going, netting five treys in the game to currently sit at 176. She was one of two Panthers to hit the 20-point mark for the night.

Elisa Carey posted her sixth double-double of the year with – 21 points and 11 rebounds - to pace FIU while freshman Finda Mansare nearly tallied a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Golden Panthers came out of the gate on an 11-1 run, capped by Bosilj’s first trey of the game. FAU regrouped to cut the deficit to three points when Andrea Taylor sank a jumper with 11:48 to go in the first half.

Bosilj helped FIU take back the momentum when she broke Gergana Slavtcheva’s school record for career three pointers, tallying the 173rd of her career with 10:04 remaining.

The Golden Panthers extended the lead to 15 points with 2:29 remaining when Gonzalez converted a free throw, but the Owls responded with 10 unanswered points to close out the half, 32-27.

Bosilj’s hot hand didn’t cool during the break as she opened the second half with back-to-back three-pointers to give FIU another double-digit advantage.

As FIU led 64-49 with 4:17 to go, FAU frantically upped the tempo with a 15-2 run, capped by two huge scores from Carla Stubbs. Stubbs converted an and-one play and a three-pointer 10 seconds later to bring FAU within three points, 66-63, with 1:19 remaining.

The Golden Panthers went 1-for-5 from the free throw line in the last minute and put Teri Stamps on the line with 17 seconds on the clock, and she tied the game at 67 to force overtime.

Though Stamps gave FAU its first and only lead of the game with a jumper 21 seconds into overtime, Gonzalez stole the show to give FIU its second overtime victory of the year.  Gonzalez hit a trey, a jumper, a layup and converted an and-one play to score all 10 of FIU’s points in the extra period for the win.

Up next, FIU heads to Louisiana on Wednesday at 8 p.m. eastern.

Senior Monika Bosilj blew past the career-three point record to currently stand at 176.
