Prior to FIU: Played and lettered in baseball all four years at Braddock High School...pitched 11 2/3 innings and struck out 23 with a 0.29 ERA as a senior...named Second Team All-Miami-Dade as a junior, when he posted a 7-2 record in 61 innings pitched with 60 strikeouts and a 2.29 ERA for head coach Lou Sanchez.
