MIAMI (Oct. 26, 2012) – The FIU men’s soccer team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m., and welcome the Memphis Tigers to the FIU Soccer Stadium. The Panthers will be looking for their eighth win of the season and their first in conference play.

FIU (7-6-2, 0-5-1 CUSA) is led by sophomore Quentin Albrecht who has a team-high eight goals this season – tied for third in the conference. His eight goals are the most by a Panther since Sebastian Frings netted nine in 2009. Albrecht heads a potent FIU offensive attack that ranks second in the conference in shots with 231. He is joined by fellow sophomore Colby Burdette on the front line. Burdette ranks second on the team with four goals and four assists for 12 total points.

The defense is led by a pair of senior Kiwis in Joseph Dawkins and Anthony Hobbs. Hobbs was recently named one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. Fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through November 19. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner.

Dawkins leads all Panthers in minutes played (1,370) in 2012. He has only missed 34 minutes of action this year. Overall, Dawkins has played 4,653 minutes in his career, second to only Hobbs who leads all current FIU players with 5,623 career minutes.

The Tigers (5-6-3, 1-2-2 C-USA) are coming off a tough 4-3 double-overtime loss at UCF and are led by leading goal-scorer Mark Sherrod who has nine goals and 22 points. In goal for Memphis is Conor Hurley who has allowed 29 goals on the year and saved 29.

Fans in attendance at the Memphis game have the opportunity to win a raffle for a signed ball by USA and A.S. Roma star Michael Bradley. There will also be a Halloween costume contest, so come dressed in your best costume for a chance to win great FIU prizes.
