FIU safety Johnathan Cyprien didn’t miss much in the week leading up to the Senior Bowl.

During the week of Senior Bowl practice, Cyprien excelled at tackling in the run game, wrapping up on pass plays and provided air tight pass coverage. Cyprien also displayed a physicality that caught the eyes of many NFL general managers, coaches and scouts on hand. Cyprien’s practice prowess led to the Panthers safety earning the Senior Bowl award for Outstanding Performance by a Defensive Back.

However, Cyprien did miss one thing in the days following the Senior Bowl game. . . CLICK HERE to read the rest of the story.

Congratulations to former FIU receivers coach Frank Ponce, who joined former FIU offensive coordinator and current Appalachian State head coach Scott Satterfield's staff. Ponce will be the passing game coordinator along with coaching the quarterbacks.

Ponce is the second former FIU coach to head north as former offensive line coach Alex Mirabal took the same job at Marshall and was reunited with former FIU and current Marshall offensive coordinator Bill Legg. The Thundering Herd visit FIU this season in a rematch of the 2011 Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl.
