Led by Henri's two homers and seven RBIs, the Panthers swung for the fences, hitting three home runs on the night, collecting a total of 17 hits.
"We threw some good pitches and they hit some good pitches," said Head Coach Turtle Thomas. "When they scored six runs to tie it up (in the seventh) and we scored four the following half inning, that showed a tremendous amount of heart from our ball club. That's as good as it gets. I was very proud of our guys."
Boston College started where it left off on Tuesday by putting up two in the first and one run in the second to take an early 3-0 lead. The Eagles scored on a 2-RBI double in the first by John Spatola and a solo shot in the second by Marc Perdios.
FIU would get the bats going and respond in grand fashion in the bottom of the second inning when Henry took a 1-1 curveball over the left field wall for his first career grand slam and his second home run of the season to give the Panthers a 5-3 advantage. Earlier in the inning, Tim Jobe scored on a Pablo Bermudez walk for the first FIU run of the game.
Bermudez finished the evening 3-5 with four runs scored and five RBI.
The Eagles regained the lead in the top of the fourth on three singles, plating three runs to go ahead 6-5.
FIU struck back in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for the second time in the ballgame. Bermudez's single up the middle sent home Junior Arrojo. Jeremy Patton and Mike Martinez each doubled in a run, and Wittels capped off the four-run fourth with a line drive off the diving second baseman to score Martinez.
The bats stayed hot in the fifth inning for FIU when Henry blasted his second home run of the game to extend the lead to eight runs.
"It felt great," said Henry on hitting two home runs in a game. "The pitcher left a couple breaking balls out over the plate and I made good adjustments in my at bats."
Henry finsihed 2-5 with two home runs and seven RBI.
After Boston College added two in the sixth, the Eagles tied it up in the top of the seventh on a Matt Watson 2-run double.
After Arrojo walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh, Bermudez took a 2-1 offering from Kyle Prohovich opposite field over the right field wall to give the Panthers their third lead of the contest and chase Prohovich from the game.
Wittels extended FIU's lead with a 2-RBI double that would score Martinez and Patton. Martinez, who had three doubles on the night, leads the team with eight doubles on the season.
Albert Cardenas picked up the win in relief for FIU giving up three runs (no earned) in 1 2/3 innings pitched for his first win of the season. Kyle Prohovich suffered the loss for BC, dropping his record to 0-1.
Bryam Garcia came into the game in the top of the eighth in relief of Cardenas with two out and got Anthony Melchionda to chase a high fast ball for the third out of the inning. He would retire the side in the ninth for his third save of the season.
Wittels extended his team-high hitting streak to 11 games with his 2-5 performance with three RBI.
Arrojo would score all four times he reached base adding his fifth stolen base on the season.
FIU will take a much needed day off and prepare for a three-game set against the State College of New Jersey when Rutgers comes to town on March 12-15. Game times are 7 p.m. on Friday, 6 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
